Enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, boating, and fishing in a secluded forest setting.

Vacation in a secluded sanctuary of tranquility and peace in the ancient Adirondack Mountain wilderness. Wake to the misty morning lake, and the haunting call of the loon. Sparkling Adirondack waters, clean air with an invigorating touch of evergreen, and a cozy cabin with rustic ambiance quickly clear away the cobwebs of urban life.

Our Adirondack cottages are far from the outside world, nestled in a private setting six miles off the main road. Each cabin has a stonework fireplace, complete kitchen and bath, and all the essentials, including blankets and kitchen ware. You do have to bring your own linens, and we purposely provide no TV or telephones because these artifacts of civilization are exactly what most of our guests are trying to escape. But to set your mind at ease, you may leave the Mount Arab Lodge phone number and email address with folks back home in case of need.

The cottages are well separated with not one visible from the other. Just outside your cabin door you will find an abundance of trails and logging roads around Mount Arab where you can hike, bike, pick berries, and explore nature, discovering the broad spectrum of plants and animals indigenous to the Adirondack wilderness.

And everyone enjoys our private Adirondack lakefront, a common area with sandy beach, fire pit, chairs, loungers, and picnic table. A boat or canoe is furnished with each cottage rental. Swim, fish, paddle along the lakeshore, or just lie in the sun and snooze. Our guests often socialize in the evening around a campfire at the beach enjoying s'mores, roasting marshmallows, and conversation.

AND, you REALLY must climb Mount Arab. From the trailhead off the Mount Arab road you will find it to be an easy climb for the entire family on a well maintained trail. Enjoy the spectacular views from the summit, and even better views from the renovated fire tower. The volunteer organization, Friends of Mount Arab (FOMA) maintains the trail and facilities at the summit. FOMA employs a summit steward who is available during the summer months to answer questions and offer free entry to the renovated observer's cabin outfitted as a small museum. It makes a great destination for a family picnic. You will even find a 5-star outhouse, but be sure to bring your own water, and carry down everything you carry up. You wil even score one for the 'Adirondack Fire Tower Challenge'.
